Spotlight On: Summer Music

The sounds of summer are in full swing in Yolo County! You can easily find a relaxing spot to enjoy an evening of outdoor (and mostly free) music and fun in Davis, Woodland, Winters or Clarksburg—from big band to jazz. For more details about events and performances, read on!

Winters: The Rotary Park Gazebo in Winters is quite the hotspot this summer! Continuing with the rest of July, Richie Lawerence & the Yolos will be performing there on July 12th, at 7pm-8:30, admission is free. The Woodland Community Band will be playing a mix of patriotic songs, big band tunes and more on July 19th, at 7pm, admission is free. Also at the Rotary Park Gazebo will be the Latin American rhythms of Zapato Viejo on July 26th at 7pm. And don’t forget the celebrated Winters Earthquake Festival August 25th! Woodland: Steve’s Summer Music 2012, put on by Steve’s Pizza, has a great summer line-up playing every Saturday at 7pm until September 1st! Performances are staged in the courtyard in the back of the restaurant, across the street from the Old Opera House in historic downtown Woodland. Grab a slice of pizza and beer and enjoy solid local bands. Performers line-up: July 14th: Bridge Root, July 21st: Laura Dider, Jim Martinez & Bobby Rogers. Clarksburg: The 1st Annual Miners Leap Jazz Series is making its debut in Clarksburg at the Miners Leap Winery! Come enjoy featured musicians Cynthia Douglas with Analysis on July 28th and Levi Huffman with Analysis on September 8th. Ticket price: $25 per show; book soon due to limited seating.
