The Winters Chamber of Commerce will sponsor their first Ag Exploration Tour of the year on Wednesday, March 27. Participants will tour the Ahh… Sweet Alpacas Farm owned by Kathryn Hamilton and Bruce and Joan Nelson.

The day will start off with participants meeting at Steady Eddy’s located at 5 East Main Street in Winters at 9 a.m. where they will be served a beverage and pastry of choice. At 9:30 the bus will be boarded and participants will be escorted to Ahh..Sweet Alpaca Farm.

While at the farm participants will go into the pasture with the alpacas and llamas, and stroll among the animals and pet them. There will have four cria, which are baby alpacas that are less than six months of age. Participants will learn about the history of American alpaca industry and goods made from alpaca wool. Participants should dress accordingly, they will be walking around and enjoying a hands-on experience with the animals.

“The Chamber of Commerce first Agritour of 2013 will be a wonderful example of what is happening in the Winters’ agricultural scene. And who can resist petting a cuddly Alpaca,” said Howard Hupe, Winters Chamber of Commerce coordinator and tour guide.

After the tour is completed, the group will be taken back to historic downtown Winters and tol have lunch at Preserve Public House, located at 200 Railroad Avenue. Following lunch participants will have one last stop at Berryessa Gap Winery tasting room located at 15 Main Street, where they can enjoy a exclusive wine tasting.
