Alex-Reisfar-300x300Transmedia Art Walk, Davis – We offer artist and curator lead group and family art walking tours of the top transmedia art walk in the United States. Guided walking tour ends with a private luncheon and tour of the John Natsoulas Center of the Arts with the curator and several of the artists. This tour and lunch is available for a minimal fee and lasts between 2-3 hours. We start our tours on Saturday and Sunday at 10am by appointment only. (Groups of 8 or more will have a private tour.) Art Walk logoFirst Friday Art Walk, Woodland – Held the first Friday of the month, art galleries and businesses display original works by regional artists, with receptions, music, and other entertainment. The Artery – Located in downtown Davis, this gallery is a collective owned and operated by the artists who display their work here. Check it out if you want to buy, contribute, or just visit. Briggs & Company Art Gallery – It’s part art gallery, part working studio, part sculpture garden, Briggs is a unique venue in downtown Winters. Briggs showcases sculpture, fine art, ceramics, jewelry, glass work, mixed media, and furniture, created by local artists both established and up-and-coming. Carl Gorman Museum – Founded in 1973, this museum on the UC Davis campus is dedicated to the artwork of Native Americans and other indigenous peoples. Exhibits include extensive collections of contemporary artists. Open Monday-Friday 12-5, Sunday 2-5. 1316 Hart Hall, UC Davis. (530) 752-6567.
Clayground – Located in Historic Downtown Winters, the Clayground is a working ceramics studio where you can play with clay and glaze pre-made pottery. All materials and supplies are provided. Design Museum at UC Davis – The Design Museum is known for its changing exhibitions of national and international design-related material, including architecture, costume, graphic design, textiles, new media, and popular culture. Gallery 625 – Located in downtown Woodland, Gallery 625 is curated by YoloArts and offers 10 exhibitions a year. Exhibitions typically showcase early to mid-career contemporary Yolo County artists, while connecting residents and visitors to the arts in the county’s administration building. The gallery is open weekdays 8-5, and monthly downtown First Friday artist receptions are held from 5:30-8:30 pm. 625 Court St., Woodland.
Gallery 1855 – An adjunct of the Davis Cemetery, this refined gallery hosts changing exhibitions every month, featuring local as well as internationally established artists. Free public receptions with the artists and occasional performances are held on each second Sunday from 1 to 4. Located at 820 Pole Line Road. (530) 756-7807.
The International House – This facility is dedicated to international education, understanding, and connections. Art exhibits in the lounge and community room feature paintings, prints, photographs, and mixed media. Open weekdays 9-4. 10 College Park, Davis. (530) 753-5007.
John Natsoulas Gallery – Art dealer John Natsoulas set up this multi-level gallery with the idea that fine art should be accessible in a friendly, open setting. The Pence Gallery – The intimate Pence is a nonprofit art gallery dedicated to showing the best work by local and regional artists. They display 12 different exhibits annually, and offer classes, talks, and a series of programs for children. Free admission. Richard L. Nelson Gallery and Fine Arts Collection – This UC Davis gallery was established as an exhibition venue and a teaching resource, but now the fine arts collection contains more than 4,000 works of diverse periods and cultures. ARC Guitar – A full-service guitar workshop and gallery located in an 103-year-old historic building in the quaint town of Winters.
